Canada-Alberta Job Grant

Did you know that there is potential funding that employers can access for those wishing to complete their Manufacturing Safety Officer (MSO) or Manufacturing Safety Administrator (MSA) certification?

Qualifying for the MSO Designation

You are eligible for the MSO designation if you meet the following requirements:

  • Three (3) years manufacturing industry experience with a minimum of 50% of that time in a role pertaining to Health and Safety

  • Completed MSO courses

  • Safety Proficiency including the 6 required documents

  • A mark of 80% or higher on the MSO examination

Qualifying for the MSA Certification

You are eligible for the MSA designation if you meet the following requirements:

  • Completed MSA courses

  • Safety Proficiency including the 6 required documents

  • A mark of 80% or higher on the MSO examination

To upgrade from MSA to MSO the following is required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accumulated experience in the manufacturing industry where 50% or greater of that role is dedicated to health and safety

  • Completion of the WCB Employer Seminar and the WCB Return to Work Seminar

  • Auditor Certification through the MHSA must be achieved

  • A letter of recommendation from the employer must be submit and include the required criteria (see the MSO application form for details.)
